Pupils at Mead School in Harold Hill were celebrating a diamond jubilee of their own - the school has been open for 60 years this month.
Hippies rubbed shoulders with boys in peaked caps as children and teachers dressed up to mark each of the six decades since the school opened its gates.
And former staff and pupils were invited back to the Amersham Road school to take part in a celebratory lunch while the children enjoyed dressing up and learning songs and dances from the different decades.
