A school which successfully attracted funding for a redevelopment scheme hopes its planning application will be approved this week.
Suttons Primary School, in Suttons Lane, Hornchurch, seeks to construct new buildings on its playing field, with a phased demolition of the existing buildings following before a new field is created.
The plans, to be discussed tomorrow evening by councillors, would also enable Suttons to increase its pupil numbers from 224 to a maximum of 450.
The school, which has just opened its own nursery after six years of campaigning for provision on-site, was only built to last 25 years, according to headteacher David Unwin-Bailey.
Cllr Meg Davis, Havering Council’s cabinet member for children and learning, said: “We successfully bid for funding to rebuild and improve Suttons Primary School under the Priority Schools Building programme.
“The application will be considered at a meeting of the Regulatory Services Committee on Thursday September 17, where a decision will be made.”
