Easter activities at Hornchurch supermarket raise nearly £400 for charity

A week of fundraising in the run-up to Easter has led to a supermarket raising £388 for charity.

Tesco Roneo Corner’s community champion Lesley Dunn, 62, dressed in a variety of outfits including chick and rabbit costumes while collecting money for charity partner Diabetes UK.

Children also took part in a colouring competition and the winners will see their work displayed in the store’s new community room which is being built.

Lesley’s fundraising has led to her being shortlisted for Diabetes UK’s charity fundraiser of the year award.

She said: “I was thrilled to be nominated and being shortlisted is amazing. I am really excited.

“Our store raised £8,000 in one year and I know that is down to the support we have had from our very generous customers.”
