In this week’s East London News Review podcast reporter Matthew Clemenson joined Time 107.5 FM’s Steve Allen to discuss the week’s papers.

First up the pair talked about a “Shell-shocked” driver who was fined by a garage after he left the forecourt to withdraw money to pay for his petrol.

The story has divided opinion with some saying the charge is outrageous, and others arguing he should have paid using his card.

Matt and Steve next discussed the Ilford Recorder/Rotary Young Citizen Award, which highlights the inspirational young people in Redbridge.

Finally they talked about a family jewellers, which smelted down £1.6m of stolen gold.

The family, from Collier Row, have been jailed for a combined total of 20 years.
