Aldershot Town 1 Dagenham & Redbridge 1

Scott Doe extended Dagenham & Redbridge’s unbeaten run to seven matches – leaving them on the brink of League Two safety.

Doe made the breakthrough on 60 minutes with his trademark near post header.

But Aldershot grabbed a share of the points when Troy Brown netted with four minutes remaining.

Monday’s match-winner Dominic Green returned to the starting line-up in place of Josh Parker, as the only change from the side that beat Gillingham 2-1.

Brian Woodall, currently attracting interest from several Championship clubs, looked to have carved out the game’s first chance when he beat defender Brown, but the striker delayed his shot and was crowded out.

Aldershot proceeded to shade an uninspiring first half, as Aaron Morris volleyed over from inside the box and Peter Vincenti headed onto the roof of the net after meeting Ben Herd’s excellent cross at the far post.

Daggers were much improved after the break, as Michael Spillane fired in a shot which forced home keeper Jamie Young into his first save of the match on 52 minutes.

Mathieu Baudry beat Young to Billy Bingham’s cross shortly afterwards, but could only head wide.

Aldershot missed a gilt-edged chance to take the lead, as Chris Lewington saved Brown’s close range effort and Danny Hylton spooned the ball over the top with the goal empty.

And the home side were made to pay for their miss when Daggers took the lead on 60 minutes.

Damien McCrory’s pin-point corner was headed in at the near post by Doe for his sixth of the season.

The Shots made a less than convincing pursuit for an equaliser with Lewington first called upon 85 minutes to brilliantly deny Vincenti at his near post.

But just a minute later the home side made the breakthrough when Adam Mekki’s low cross was headed in by Brown.

With three matches to play Daggers are nine points clear of the relegation zone and now know one point will be enough to secure safety.
