A saxophonist played God Save the Queen to herald the opening of the Birkbeck Road street party, in Rush Green.
A barbecue manned by Andrew Houseago got mouths watering, while a medley of patriotic hits provided a suitable soundtrack for revellers.
Organiser David Hodge, dressed in a Union Jack t-shirt and leggings, said: “We are tight-knit around here and we wanted to celebrate the community and bring people together.”
The Rush Green Regeneration Group chairman added: “The Queen is a fantastic role-model and ambassador for the country. She is a woman with a great reputation wherever she goes.”
Little Sophie Potter, four, and sister Alice, nine, showed a bit of British pride with their painted faces, while Jean Wilkins, from West Road, wowed in a strapless Union Jack dress - braving initially chilly weather.
Sophie said: “I think the Queen is great!”
