Crooks smashed their way into a Hornchurch petrol station last night.
They got into the station shop within the Hornchurch Road Tesco by breaking its rear windows.
A small fire was started and the duty manager called the fire brigade after seeing smoke. The Hornchurch fire crew arrived and extinguished the blaze.
