Police safer neighbourhood team officers in Upminster forced their way into an elderly woman’s house to give her first aid.
The woman had fallen over and they were alerted by friends.
Officers Mark Edwards and Sarah Morris called an ambulance but didn’t want to wait for it to arrive before helping her.
Pc Edwards said: “I could see that the lady had fallen over and was unable to get up in order to let us into her house. I was worried about her and knew that the ambulance crew would not be able to treat her unless I could open the door.
“I was pleased to be able to assist a member of our local community and it was great to learn that she is now out of hospital.”
