A father has spoken of his anger after yobs were caught on CCTV ransacking his partners car and attempting to kick his family’s front door in.

In the early hours of the morning on Sunday, February 23, Simon Hisock, his partner Debbie and children Nicky and Lauren were woken up by loud bangs on the front door of their house in Marks Road, Romford.

Simon, 45, said: “It woke us all up. I thought what is going on? I did think we might be getting burgled – it’s happened in the area a few times.”

He added that a number of similar incidents in the street, which he puts down to “drunk people coming back from Romford nights out” led to him installing a private CCTV camera two years ago.

“A lot of things like this have happened. I got CCTV installed and in that time there’s been four or five incidents of people throwing bottles, fighting and doing car damage.”

After the latest incident, Simon called the police, who arrived just after 4am.

“I told the police I had CCTV but they didn’t ask for it until this Sunday (Feb 28),” said Simon. “I appreciate they have more important things to do but I just want to see something done.

“It might only be drunk people messing about but that still doesn’t make it right.”

The frustrating instances have even led Debbie to leave her car unlocked, due to the cost of repairing the damage if it is broken in to.

“People have tried to bend the doors,” explained Simon. “That costs more to repair than the cost of losing your excess. I’d prefer her to leave it locked but she has an old car and doesn’t keep any valuables in there.”

Police say enquiries are ongoing.
