A charity snooker match has raised £700 for a children’s charity.

Last month, Cllr Robert “Shooter” Behnam defeated Conservative candidate Bob “The Don” Perry when they locked horns at Romford Snooker Club for The Rainbnow Trust Charity.

More than £600 was raised on the evening through donations, with a further £100 raised by snooker club owner Richard Willis and council leader, Cllr Steven Kelly.

Bob said: ““Cllr Benham and I are very proud that the event raised £700 for poorly children in our borough and would like to thank everyone who attended and gave generously to this great local cause.”

MP Dame Angela Watkinson, Cllr Pam Light and Bob Perry presented a cheque to Pauline Obee OBE of the Rainbow Trust in Station Road Harold Wood.

The Rainbow Trust was founded in 1986 and provides emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
