Robert Gurling and his three-year-old son, last seen in Great Notley, near Braintree, last Saturday were found by police at an address in Guildford, Surrey, yesterday evening (Fri).

Police have said the boy is safe and well and has been placed into the care of social services.

A 45-year-old man from Romford was arrested on suspicion of abduction and is currently helping police with their enquiries.

A woman from Guildford in Surrey has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and been bailed until Monday, May 11 for further investigations.

Laurence Payne, 40, a computer programmer of Dereham Place, Romford, has been charged with assisting an offender as part of this investigation. He was arrested on Thursday, May 7 and will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today (Saturday, May 9).
