A Rainham pub which had its licence suspended following police reports of serious disorder will have its appeal against the decision finally decided this morning, Monday, November 20.
Havering Council’s licensing sub-committee will meet at 10.30am at Havering Town Hall to make a final decision over the future of The Bell Inn, Broadway.
Police officers initially called an emergency meeting on October 27, after an incident eight days earlier.
Two men who had been part of an altercation at the pub were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Police requested the licence be suspended as “measures need to be put in place with immediate effect to protect the public”.
At another meeting on November 3 the Bell Inn’s owner Sharon Rogers confirmed she was appealing the decision to suspend the licence.
Her solicitors, Sternberg Reed, stated this was because “she was not present at the hearing, no evidence was admitted on her behalf and she contests the version of events described”.
