A suspicious vehicle in Romford Market caused police to cordon off the area in the early hours of this morning.
Officers taped off Market Place from the Golden Lion pub to South Street.
The cordon was removed when police realised the car had been abandoned. No arrests were made and no further action was taken.
The incident follows a bomb scare in the town centre on Friday morning, when police evacuated the Liberty and Mercury Mall and closed Mercury Gardens after a locked suitcase was left on a ramp into the back of the Liberty.
The bomb squad performed a controlled explosion on the package before the shopping centres and roads were opened.
