Police looking for train attacker who fled at Upminster station

A 52-year-old man was punched in the face on a train by an attacker who fled from the carriage at Upminster station.
Today police have released an image of a man they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.
The victim boarded the last train to Upminster at Fenchurch Street.
Det Con Jon Howlett of the British Transport Police (BTP) said: “As he walked through the train, he was assaulted by another man who punched him in the face.”
The attack took place at 12.30am on July 19

“The victim was left bloodied and in need of hospital treatment,” Det Con Howlett continued.
“This was a crowded service, and the attack was witnessed by a number of people.”

Both the attacker and the victim left the train at Upminster.
Detectives have quizzed passengers on the train and examined CCTV of the incident as part of their investigation.
Det Con Howlett said: “I believe the man in the picture we are issuing has vital information. I would ask anyone who recognises him to contact us.”
