Havering neighbourhood policing teams are working with Marks & Spencer to help stop thieves.
Insp Neal Donohoe said: “Officers from Havering work very closely with Marks & Spencer in Romford town centre.
“We currently have the Safe & Sound partnership with M&S, which sees officers regularly attending the venue.”
Mr Donohoe is urging people to stay vigilant while shopping if they see anything suspicious.
He added: “If members of the public witness someone shoplifting please immediately inform either security or shop staff or call the police.”
