Police are appealing for information after a pensioner was robbed of �2,000 last Easter.

The incident happened outside the One Stop Express Shop and Post Office in Suttons Lane, Hornchurch on Tuesday April 26 at around 9am.

The pensioner was jumped upon by the robbers after taking just a few steps towards the Post Office.

He was punched to the ground before the robbers made off with a black cloth bag containing �2,000.

Passers by helped the pensioner and he was taken to Queen’s Hospital in Rom Valley Way, Romford and treated for moderate injuries.

The first suspect is described as a white male aged 20 to 30 of medium build, about five foot, 10 tall, wearing a dark grey hooded top with writing on the chest.

He is believed to have been wearing a McKenzie top and a dark bottoms with Nike trainers.

The second suspect is described as a white male aged 20 to 30 of a slim build about six foot and wearing a dark grey hooded top, dark bottoms with white trainers.

Detective Constable Carter, from Romford Police Station said: “I would urge anyone with information to come forward.

“This was a busy road at 9am and was the day after Easter Monday.

“It was close to Hornchurch train station where people may have been heading to commute.

“The CCTV footage suggests this was a planned robbery and the degree of violence used was totally unacceptable.

“The victim is still recovering both physically and mentally from this ordeal.”
