Workmen were in the final phase of a special project linking Rainham village to the River Thames this week.

Steel and concrete foundations have now been laid as part of the Rainham to River trackway, which will wind its way through scenic marshland.

Timber columns will now be installed, supporting a 200 metre long track sloping from the village’s railway bridge to a series of connected walkways to the Thames.

The project is organised by Design for London in partnership with Havering Council and funded by the Homes and Communities Agency, London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, Heritage Lottery and Veolia Landfill Trust.
