Patients were left disappointed on Tuesday after operations were postponed despite the doctors strike being cancelled due to a last minute break-through in negotiations.
Forty-seven operations at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust still had to be postponed because sufficient time was not given for the procedures to go ahead.
Speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live, Matthew Hopkins, chief executive for BHRUT said the hospitals were trying to get back to “business as usual” as quickly as possible.
A spokesperson for the Trust confirmed that despite unavoidable cancellations, urgent cancer surgeries and elective caesarean sections, where it was not safe to postpone the procedures, did go ahead.
