Youngsters were given advice about staying safe on the streets thanks to a visit from their Safer Neighbourhood team.

Officers from Elm Park Safer Neighbourhood Team spoke to year six students from Scargill School in Mungo Park Road, Rainham and R J Mitchell School in Tangmere Crescent, Hornchurch.

The students, who are starting secondary school in September, were given advice about bullying and peer pressure.

PCSO Samantha Lee said: “We were bombarded with questions and it was evident that the pupils were keen to listen to our advice and even offered myself and colleagues advice on how to stay safe whilst on patrol.

“It is important that pupils are aware of the personal safety issues when making this huge step from primary school to senior school”.
