An office block was evacuated after a hand grenade from either the First or Second World War was unearthed in a park by workers.
Police were called to Langton Gardens, Hornchurch, at 1.10pm yesterday and set up a safety cordon.
Specialist officers were called in and were able to confirm the grenade was no longer live and was likely a spent shell from either the First or Second World War.
The grenade was safely removed and the site reopened just before 3pm.
