An investigation has been launched after a mother-of-three was racially abused on a bus.

The victim, a black woman, boarded the 370 bus at Romford train station at about 8.15am on January 5 with her children, the youngest in a pushchair.

At the Drill roundabout, a white woman in her mid 20s with shoulder-length black hair boarded the bus with two children, and parked her pushchair next to the victim’s in the designated bay.

The victim claims she was subjected to racial abuse by the other woman until both parties got off the bus in North Street, Hornchurch.

Officers from Havering’s Community Safety Unit are appealing for anyone who was on the bus and heard or witnessed the racial abuse to contact them on 01708 779110. Alternatively, contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
