Green Points collectors will now be able to access their rewards via an iPhone app.

The device will make it easier for residents to find businesses that have signed up to offer discounts as part of the scheme, which rewards people for the amount of recycling they do.

More than 100 companies have registered, and all residents have to do to get their discount is find it on the app and then show their membership card in store or mention it over the phone.

There are a range of discounts on offer, from 2-for-1 on all courses at Vertigo Lounge in Hornchurch to 10 per cent off bikes and accessories at Cycles UK in Romford.

Cllr Robert Benham, cabinet member for the environment, said: “The app is a great way to connect Havering residents with the local businesses in their high streets. There are a great range of businesses offering all kinds of discounts and the app makes it really easy to find them.”
