A man was sent to prison for eight weeks after a racially-aggravated assault on a doctor at Queen’s Hospital, and racially motivated threats, abuse or insults toward a second doctor.
Terry Hooper, of Asthall Gardens, Ilford, assaulted Dr Aryan Rasheed at Queen’s on August 15, and used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards Dr Farkhunda Waquas with intent to cause her to believe immediate unlawful violence would be uysed against her, or to provoke her to use immediate unlawful violence.
He also used threatening, abusive or insulting words, or behaviour or disorderly behaviour, within the hearing or sight of someone likely to be caused harassment, alarm or distress. The offence was racially aggravated.
Hooper, 38, pleaded guilty. He was sentenced at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday September 11.
