Havering residents have been reminded to make use of both of the accident and emergency departments serving the borough after heavy attendances at Queen’s Hospital.
The A&E at the hospital in Rom Valley Way, Romford, has been more busy than usual for this time of year in recent days, and the borough’s healthcare experts believe this is because people are forgetting King George Hospital’s A&E in Goodmayes remains open.
A statement released by the Barking, Havering and Redbridge Clinical Commissioning Groups urged residents to utilise both emergency departments.
It read: “There are still a very large number of patients in the A&E department at Queen’s Hospital.
“This is putting significant pressure on health services across the boroughs.
“A&Es at Queen’s & King George Hospitals remain open.”
The future of plans to close King George Hospital’s A&E remains unclear as the CCGs await the results of a formal report compiled by independent consultants PricewaterhouseCoopers.
