Gidea Park man Luke Chaplin was fined �100 and ordered to pay costs and a victim surcharge totalling another �100 for driving while using a mobile phone.
Chaplin, 26, pleaded guilty to the offence, which he committed in North Street, Romford, on January 11.
The Tudor Drive resident also had three penalty points put on his driving license.
The fine and points were issued by Barkingside magistrates on September 18.
