A man has been charged in relation to an armed robbery at a travel agents.

Police were called at Thomson travel agents in Corbets Tey Road, Upminster, at about 11.20am on Friday after reports of an armed robbery.

A man had allegedly forced the door open and entered the shop with what is believed to be a firearm. He stole cash before fleeing the scene. No one was injured during the incident.

Robert Darling, 30, of Strickland Street, south east London, was charged on Saturday with three counts of robbery, three counts of possession of an imitation firearm and possession of a false identity document.

He appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court today and will remain in custody until he appears at a central London criminal court on November 22.
