Two people were arrested and 14 vehicles seized across Havering in a day-long police crackdown on illegal drivers.
The 15-hour “Operation Cubo” last Tuesday (December 18) saw officers stopping vehicles in Romford and Rainham, and setting up automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) cameras throughout the borough.
The blitz was the capital’s 14th and saw 552 vehicles seized across London and 105 arrests.
Detective Superintendent Tony Bennett said: “Yet again, Operation Cubo has achieved some outstanding results.
“We know that 80 per cent of uninsured drivers are habitual criminals – and they are five times more likely to be involved in collisions.
“These operations are about disrupting the offenders who use their vehicles to commit crime in Havering borough and beyond, and transport weapons, drugs and stolen property.”
He added the Met would continue to pursue uninsured drivers “relentlessly” into the New Year.
Since the Met launched Operation Cubo in October 2011, more than 44,000 vehicles have been seized more than 1,000 people arrested for offences including rape, possession of illegal firearms, money laundering and drugs.
Weapons, cash and drugs have also been seized.
