Harassing someone by sending racially-aggravated messages over social networking app WhatsApp has earned a Romford man a suspended sentence.
Sean Jameson, 25, of Grosvenor Road, Romford, sent nine offensive messages to his victim on August 17.
He was handed a 12 week sentence suspended for 12 months at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on October 27 after earlier admitting the offence.
Jameson must spend 30 days in rehab and carry out 180 hours of unpaid work over the next year. He was also given a restraining order not to contact the victim.
He was ordered to pay £180 in criminal court costs, £80 victim surcharge and costs of £85.
