Essex Freemasons have donated thousands of pounds to hospices serving Havering as part of a £450,000 national drive to support community services.
St Francis Hospice and Haven House Children’s Hospice will receive £2,710 and £1,812 respectively in the form of grants from the Masonic Charitable Foundation (MCF).
Rodney Bass OBE, Provincial Grand Master for Essex, said: “During the last 12 months Essex Freemasons have raised in excess of £1 million for the MCF, a living charity which uses the money to help communities and good causes.
“This is yet another example of money raised in Essex being given to charities that do so much good locally. Hundreds of thousands in grants have already been distributed locally and I am delighted to report that more are in the pipeline.”
Over the last five years Essex Masons have individually raised an additional £1 million every year, giving money to over 800 good causes annually.
