12-year-old airlifted to hospital after road traffic collision in South End Road, Rainham

A 12-year-old boy was taken to hospital by helicopter after a road traffic collision involving a lorry in Rainham on Tuesday.

The incident took place around 7.30am on South End Road when the 11-year-old pedestrian was in collision with a Ford Dropside truck.

The boy, who is from the area, suffered a serious head injury and was taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel by air ambulance.

Roads were closed in the area until 10.35am.
