A mother of two is taking on a half marathon challenge after her mum was diagnosed with cancer.

Jen Sheridan, 37, from Upminster Bridge, is running the Brentwood half marathon in March with her brother James Harris for charity Breast Cancer Care.

The pair have already raised more than £4,000 for the charity after their mum, Mary Harris, was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.

Jen said: “When we received the news, I felt both sad and helpless, however, this run is a sign of positivity as I am running it with my brother both on behalf of my mum while raising money for a wonderful charity.

She added: “More than 55,000 women and nearly 400 men are diagnosed with breast cancer every year in the UK and by taking part in this run and raising money I hope to ensure these men and women receive support and information when they need it most.”
