Two men who injured a teenager during a robbery at a bus stop in Hornchurch have been locked up.

In the early hours of March 27, a 19-year-old suffered head and facial injuries and a small stab wound to his thigh during a robbery in Hornchurch Road.

Ryan Thomas, 18, of Princes Park, Rainham was found guilty and Mohammed Kasim, 22, of Cheneys Road, Chingford, pleaded guilty to one count of robbery.

The pair were sentenced at Isleworth Crown Court on October 26.

Thomas will be detained for five years in a young offenders’ institution, while Kasim was imprisoned for 42 months.

Det Ch Ins Phil Rickells, of Havering Police, said: “This was a violent and nasty crime and I would like to praise the victim for his fortitude in this matter.

“Both Kasim and Thomas committed a serious offence and the severity of the crime has been reflected in the length of imprisonment imposed.

“My officers worked hard to solve this crime and this result demonstrates our commitment to tackling violence in Havering.”
