Police have arrested a man on suspicion of burglary after a chase involving a helicopter and at least eight police cars in Harold Hill.
Metropolitan Police arrested the man who was found in undergrowth on Faringdon Avenue after the 30-minute pursuit.
At 3.20pm the force was called after it received reports of a man leaving a house suspiciously nearby the arrest site.
Resident Ray Hurst, 33, of Harold Wood, was driving in the area at the time.
He said: “As I went out I could hear the police helicopter and saw it circling in the Harold Hill area. As I drove along the A12 there was a police car in the lay-by past the big yellow storage centre with an empty car in front of it.
“I picked up my daughter and drove back along Gubbins Lane [Romford] and saw a convoy of about eight police car driving past me and I pulled up onto the side of the road. The helicopter then reappeared.”
