A man had to be taken to hospital after being assaulted during a knifepoint mugging in Romford last week.

The 28-year-old, from Dagenham, was waiting in South Street for a bus when the incident took place.

Police say the incident occurred at around 7.35pm on Thursday June 7.

Two men started talking to him, but after a few minutes one assaulted him with a knife, causing a gash to his shoulder.

The men took his Blackberry phone.

One suspect is described as a black male, about 5ft 8ins tall, between 18 and 20-years-old, and was wearing a blue zip-up jumper with a collar, and red and white Nike trainers.

The other suspect is described as a white male, around 5ft 10ins.

The victim was taken to Queen’s.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the incident, or knowledge of those involved, to contact CID at Romford on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
