Police have arrested a 34-year-old man in connection with a brutal assault on a teenage girl.

The 16-year-old Havering student was knocked unconscious after she was struck on the back of the head at around midday last Tuesday (November 13) in Plaistow, east London.

The suspect was arrested last night and he is currently being held in custody at an east London police station.
