Plans for 32 sheltered retirement apartments in High Street, Hornchurch, have been submitted to Havering Council.

The proposal would require six residential homes adjacent to the Royal British Legion hall to be demolished.

The plans have been submitted by Churchill Retirement Living.

Churchill has said that the borough’s current housing stock will not be able to meet the demands of the expected increase in the older population.

As well as the apartments the plans include an owners’ lounge and guest suite.

A decision is expected by July 26.
