Police are investigating a shooting in Romford this morning that left two people in hospital.

Detectives from a Trident shootings team are appealing for witnesses and information after the pair – a 22-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman – were shot in Rush Green Road some time before 1am.

It is believed they were in a car when the incident took place. They took themselves to hospital in the car, which has not been recovered.

No arrests have yet been made. Police said they were keeping an open mind about the motive.
