A four-year-old driving offence earned a man an 18-month road ban and a £450 bill.

Forty-one-year-old Abdul Ajagbe, of Firhill Road, Lewisham, drove a Honda Civic in Hacton Lane on April 26, 2009, while over the legal limit, and without insurance or a license.

He was breathalysed and found to have 60 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath. The limit is 25 micrograms.

And on May 8 the same year he failed to surrender to custody, having been released on bail from Romford Police Station the day after the incident.

Ajagbe, who pleaded guilty, was fined £350 at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, February 7, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

His 18-month driving ban can be reduced by four months if he completes a course.
