A councillor was on cue as he triumphed in a “nailbiting” charity snooker match on Sunday.
Cllr Robert “Shooter” Benham defeated Bob “The Don” Perry three frames to two in a fundraiser for the Rainbow Trust, held at the famous Romford Snooker Club.
Though he was disappointed to lose, Bob was over the moon with the amount raised on the evening.
“Cllr Benham and I are very proud that the event raised £600 for poorly children in our borough and would like to thank everyone who attended and gave generously to this great local cause.
“In particular we would like to thank Romford snooker club’s owner Mr Richard Willis for his overwhelming support and kindness which without it we would not have been able to play our part.
Six-time world snooker champion Steve Davis has a famous association with the club in Arcade Place, after being spotted there as a youngster.
