Brentwood Council leader Cllr Louise McKinlay spent a night on patrol with the town’s new Street Pastors recently.

The pastors walk around the High Street area on Friday evenings to provide reassurance and help for any revelers who run into difficulty.

Cllr McKinlay said: “This scheme has arrived in our town at exactly the right time, as Brentwood’s night time economy has been welcoming more and more business into the town centre.

“I am grateful to be given the opportunity to experience this first hand and see the Street Pastors being met with a very positive response from the people of all ages they came into contact with.”

She added: “As a council we will be looking into how we can support communications between the Street Pastors with a supply of radios, and the local community can support their work with donations to help equipment, uniform and to train the pastors.“
