The Essex accent is likely to get you ahead in your career, a poll has found.

The local drawl comes second only to Cambridge intones, following a study by CitySocialising, an online friendship network.

Other top accents are Irish, London and Geordie.

But people from Glasgow, Birmingham, Manchester, and Middlesborough were judged to have brogues most likely to hinder them finding a job.
