Council leader Michael White agreed to visit Dycorts School, inviting Hornchurch and Upminster MP Angela Watkinson, after audience member Lorraine Moss drew attention to the poor condition of the buildings.

It came after Community Questions audience member Lorraine Moss drew attention to the poor condition of the buildings.

“I’ve long had an aspiration that all our schools should be buildings that meet the aspirations of the fantastic work teachers do,” said Cllr White.

The school, in Settle Road, Harold Hill, was originally earmarked to receive a new building under Harold Hill Ambitions, but government funding was withdrawn after the recession hit.

Ms Moss said the kitchen was in need of particular attention.
