A teen rock star has made it through to the regional finals of a national singing competition for the second time.

Josh Gleaves, 13, of Collier Row, will be competing in this year’s Open Mic UK regional finals this weekend at Dingwalls in Camden.

He said: “I am really excited to be performing and taking part in the competition again as it was a great experience before and just hope that I do well if not better this time round.”

The Royal Liberty School pupil took part in last year’s Open Mic UK competition but despite sailing through to the final, he just missed out on winning the grand prize of a recording contract with record company Future Music.

He said: “I’m now more determined than ever to win the whole thing so hopefully I get through to the next round.”
