A Collier Row couple celebrated the New Year with the birth of their baby girl at Queen’s Hospital.

Megela Xhasa was born to parents Irma and Petrit at 1.40am on Tuesday and is the couple’s first baby. She was the third baby born at Queen’s this year,

Margela, who was born three days late, weighed in at 6 � lbs. Dad Petrit, 26, said: “We had expected her on Wednesday, but I celebrated New Year in the hospital with Irma, helping her just before she had Megela.”

Petrit, who married Irma after six years together in August, added: “What a way to start the New Year! We are very excited to be parents and are looking forward to it.”

They celebrated on Wednesday when they returned home with their family and relatives.
