Lynda Taylor from the Gidea Park guides and brownies rounds up recent and upcoming events

Although winter is approaching it doesn’t stop our girls from getting out and about!

The 2nd Gidea Park Brownies had their Pack Holiday at Belchamps Scout Activity Centre and enjoyed a weekend of ‘I’m a Brownie – Get Me Out Of Here!’ activities included making edible spiders, a very muddy assault course and even muddier pond dipping! Ant and Dec would have been proud of them!

The 3rd Gidea Park Brownies spent their Pack Holiday at Thriftwood Scout Camp Site in Brentwood. For many of these girls it is their first experience of staying away from home but there are always too many activities for them to get homesick.

A small group of Brownies and their leaders visited the London World Centre called Pax Lodge in Belsize Park.

Their visit was for an International day which was full of fun and excitement and while they were there they met some Senior Section Young leaders and their leaders from Ireland, one of the leaders gave each of the Brownies an Irish Brownie Interest badge.

The Pax Lodge leaders for the day were from Brazil and Australia. They learnt lot about Brazil and Australia from the leaders, in particular about guiding in those countries. They had a special Pax Lodge Pin badge ceremony and received certificates to mark their visit.

The 5th Gidea Park Brownies had a back stage tour of the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch, where they were allowed on the set for Return to the Forbidden Planet.

They learnt a lot about putting on a production in the theatre and the story of the theatre ghost completed the visit in style!

We are always looking for new leaders to enable us to offer guiding to all of the girls who would like to join us.
