Upminster Golf Club presents cheque to First Step

A CHARITY for children with special needs received an early Christmas present of £7,000 from Upminster Golf Club.

Club captains Dennis Brind and Jo Gregory donated the sum to First Step in Tangmere Crescent, Hornchurch, which is the club’s charity for the year.

Jo said: “Gill Hare, who started First Step, is a neighbour to both of us. We all live in the same road. It’s a perfect local charity to support.

“I went along to see First Step and was so impressed. The provision for that age group is not being offered anywhere else.”

The charity offers tailored play sessions and support to pre-school children and babies with learning difficulties and disabilities and their families.

The club held a variety of fundraising events throughout the year.
