People with brain injuries will benefit from nearly £2,000 raised during a charity quiz night in Hornchurch earlier this month.

The Headway East London charity quiz night was held at Hornchurch Cricket Club’s pavilion on August 9, attracting more than 85 brainboxes.

The cash will go towards a monthly support group held at Queen’s Hospital, Romford.

Event organiser Dean Harding, of Hornchurch, said: “The night was a success for a small charity like Headway East London.

“We run the only brain injury support group in the Havering area.

“To raise £1900, and to have such a good turnout from the local community, is amazing. I need to thank the Hornchurch Cricket Club for letting us have the venue free of charge, plus Antarctica Fish and Chips for the catering – and not forgetting everyone who took part.”
