A family’s quiet evening was suddenly put to an end, when a car crashed into their house’s front wall.

Sophia Pittaway, 19, was watching television with her parents, grand-mother and brother on Wednesday night, when she heard “a massive crash” outside their home in Heath Park Road, Gidea Park.

“It sounded like it was inside our house,” she told the Recorder.

Through the window, Miss Pittaway saw a car had crashed into their front brick wall.

“The car completely took the wall out,” she said. “I couldn’t believe no-one was injured considering the state of the car. Bricks went flying everywhere.”

Police officers were called at the scene at 9.35pm.

Witnesses at the scene told Miss Pittaway they had seen three men running away from the car and claimed two cars had been racing down the road.

The brick wall had to be completely knocked down and the family’s car, parked on the drive, was also slightly damaged.

Police are still trying to trace the occupants of the car and confirmed inquires were ongoing. No other vehicles were involved.
