These dramatic shots show a car being consumed by a fireball in Rush Green last night.
Michael Christiansen snapped the scene as firefighters from Hornchurch fought to extinguish the blaze, which was out in about 15 minutes, amid thick black smoke.
“A bus and an ambulance support vehicle blocked the road so nobody could get down,” he explained.
“The car took about five minutes to become fully engulfed. The tyres exploded causing waves of thick black smoke.
“The fire brigade was on the scene within seven minutes.”
The crew was called to the fire, at the junction of Rush Green Road and Dagenham Road, at about 8.45pm. Police were on hand to direct traffic to safety.
It is believed no one was injured.
