A burst pipe created an impromptu water feature in Romford during Friday’s hot weather.
A contractor damaged the six-inch water main in Waterloo Road during construction works around lunchtime. A spokesman for Essex and Suffolk Water said the leak was fixed within an hour.
He added: “We do not have a hosepipe ban in place. Our reservoirs are now at target levels for the time of year following exceptionally high rainfall totals during April (305% of the long term average). We would like to thank our customers for working with us over recent months and for being particularly careful and using water wisely.”
